The mission of the Washington County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is to engage various key “sectors” of the community in well-coordinated, substance abuse prevention activities designed to result in the reduction of underage substance use and abuse in Washington County.
Meets at noon on fourth Thursday of each month at Highlands Center for Behavioral Health
Everyone welcome to attend.
Washington County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition has been awarded a Virginia Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant (SFP-SIG). Our goal is to reduce motor vehicle crashes involving alcohol-impaired drivers who are between the ages of 15 and 24. The SPF-SIG project is to build capacity and infrastructure at the community level to conduct a comprehensive community needs and resources assessment regarding alcohol related motor vehicle crashes involving youth and young adults. Based on the assessment outcome, a strategic plan will be developed to address the identified and prioritized contributing factors to increase the potential of reducing consumption patterns, including underage drinking and binge drinking that lead to motor vehicle crashes.
